In-School Ensemble Program

The In-School Ensemble Program is a major educational activity of the Honolulu Symphony in which 13 small ensembles of Symphony musicians visit school classrooms, bringing their music performance and teaching skills directly to the students. These intimate programs are designed to complement the concert hall experience of the Youth Concerts and are an opportunity for students to meet and hear the musicians in the casual, familiar atmosphere of their own school.

In-School Ensemble Reservation

Although some ensembles can accommodate large groups, we like to keep the audiences for these performances under 50. This gives children the opportunity to get a closer look at the musicians and their instruments and ask more questions. Please indicate the number of attendees per category, per grade so that we may accommodate you to the best of our ability.

There is no fee for an ensemble performance, however ensembles can only go to one school per day therefore,
- Please schedule at least two performances with a 15 minute break in between.
  (Rural Oahu schools may not be able to schedule more than two performances due to travel time.)
- Performances should be in the same location.
Please make sure the location for the performance is reasonably accessible from the parking area.
(Some instruments are very large.)
