Nurturing Tomorrow’s Artists

Youth Concerto Program

The Youth Concerto Program nurtures a love for classical music among younger generations and forms new, vibrant ties between the Symphony and the young artist community. Coordinated in collaboration with the Honolulu Symphony Associates volunteers, the Youth Concerto Program offers Hawaii's youth the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to perform with a world-class orchestra at a concert hall. Some young musicians will be motivated to continue in their studies and become professional musicians. Several past winners have become members of the Honolulu Symphony.

In 2008-09, the Honolulu Symphony Associates Concerto Competition is scheduled for January 24 (non-pianists), and January 25 (pianists) at Orvis Auditorium on the campus of University of Hawai'i at Manoa.  The winners of the competition will be featured on the following Youth Concert programs: April 9, 28, and 29, 2009 (Blaisdell Concert Hall).
