Honolulu Symphony Concert Tickets Go On Sale Today

Honolulu – The Honolulu Symphony announced that single concert tickets for the exciting 2009-2010 season, featuring Principal Conductor Andreas Delfs and Pops Conductor Matt Catingub, go on sale to the general public today, Wednesday, September 9, 2009. The Symphony Box Office opens at 9 a.m. to offer the very first opportunity to buy individual tickets to Halekulani MasterWorks and Toyota Pops series concerts. Tickets for Beethoven’s Ninth, as well as the Mozart Festival, will also go on sale. Single tickets can be purchased by calling the Symphony Box Office at (808) 792-200, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets are also sold at Ticketmaster outlets, Macy’s and by calling 1-877-750-4400, as well as www.ticketmaster.com.

Halekulani MasterWorks single tickets are priced from $19 to $70 and Mozart Festival tickets ranges from $21 to $74. Toyota Pops single tickets are priced from $20 to $82. In keeping with its support of families and youth education, the Symphony will continue to offer children and student tickets for only $10 each throughout the 2009-2010 season. In addition, the Symphony is continuing its 20 percent discount program for seniors and members of the U.S. Armed Forces, military families and Department of Defense employees.

For music lovers seeking deeply-discounted tickets, the best savings are offered through season ticket programs. In 2009-2010, new patrons receive a 50 percent discount off their season tickets. As a result, new patrons can purchase season ticket packages for as low as $99 for 12 Halekulani MasterWorks concerts and only $63 for all seven Toyota Pops concerts. Returning season ticket holders will enjoy discounts of up to 35 percent based on their seating choices, including new benefits for the 2009-2010 season.

•    V.I.P. Invitations: Enjoy exclusive events, such as open rehearsals.
•    Ticket Donations: Donate tickets back to the Honolulu Symphony and receive a donation receipt. Ticket donations must be processed 48 hours before a concert.

Maestro Delfs and the Honolulu Symphony Orchestra will open the 2009-2010 Halekulani MasterWorks season on Saturday, September 19 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, September 20 at 4 p.m. with Edgar Meyer’s The Melody of Rhythm – Triple Concerto for Banjo, Double Bass and Tabla: new music that is groundbreaking, incomparable and immensely enjoyable. Banjo virtuoso Béla Fleck, composer and double-bass master Meyer and legendary tabla player Zakir Hussain will join Delfs and the Orchestra to share this highly rhythmic work that melds Indian classical music, American roots and “big sky orchestral horizons” with Honolulu audiences. This exciting season opening also features Mendelssohn’s beloved Symphony No. 4 “Italian.”

Maestro Catingub and the Honolulu Symphony Pops open the 2009-2010 Toyota Pops season on Friday, October 23, 2009 at 8 p.m. and Saturday, October 24, 2009 at 8 p.m. when Tony-Award-winning Broadway star Ben Vereen brings his legendary voice and the classic music of Broadway to Honolulu. On Broadway, Vereen has appeared in Wicked, Fosse, Hair, Jesus Christ Superstar, Pippin, and A Christmas Carol. Also an acclaimed actor, Vereen is recognized for roles such as the unforgettable Chicken George in Roots and as Louis Armstrong in Louis Armstrong - Chicago Style. Don’t miss this evening featuring all your Broadway favorites!
