The Wedding Ring Shop Hosts “Heart of Gold” Fundraiser for Honolulu Symphony

Week-long event welcomes donations of jewelry to be “converted” into cash donations to fund Symphony programs

Honolulu – The Wedding Ring Shop and the Honolulu Symphony today announced the “Heart of Gold” fundraiser to generate much-needed donations to support the Symphony’s education and community outreach programs. During “Symphony Week,” from November 3 to November 9, donors can bring their unwanted or unused gold, silver and platinum jewelry to The Wedding Ring Shop, where the items will be appraised and “converted” into cash. Donors can then choose to donate a portion or the full value of the items to the Symphony, where they will see their jewelry “take on new worth” as the donations fund community programs. The Wedding Ring Shop will also generously donate an additional 20 percent of the total donations made to the Symphony.

“The Wedding Ring Shop recognizes and appreciates the Honolulu Symphony as our city’s cultural touchstone, a precious civic organization,” said Michael A. Han, president, The Wedding Ring Shop. “Especially in today’s world, our lives need more spiritual vibrancy and positive inspiration – and our richly talented Symphony does this for us.”

“During this time of economic uncertainty when many important education and
community programs are in jeopardy, non-profits such as the Symphony are particularly thankful for organizations such as The Wedding Ring Shop and their generosity in hosting this innovative fundraising opportunity,” said Tom Gulick, executive director, Honolulu Symphony.

“For many Symphony supporters, the current financial climate and state of investments make it a challenging time to consider a donation,” continued Gulick. “As a result, the ‘Heart of Gold’ fundraiser is a wonderful and fitting opportunity for all those who wish to support the Symphony, especially when you consider the chance to bring new ‘meaning and life’ to a piece of unused jewelry. We extend our deepest thanks to everyone at The Wedding Ring Shop, and all valued donors, for making this event possible.”

“Symphony Week” at The Wedding Ring Shop concludes with a special, invitation-only reception at the flagship store on the corner of Pensacola and Kapiolani Blvd., following the Symphony’s Halekulani MasterWorks “All-Strauss Experience” concert on November 9.
